Church History

The Right Way Church of God in Christ is a step-forwarding ministry that supports the needs of its members and the community, under the leadership of Founder and Pastor, Elder Jesse L. Draper, a man of God who is led and governed by the Holy Ghost.  On October 18, 1998, the first service was held at 2051-C Max Luther Drive, an office complex that was converted to a sanctuary, anointed and filled with the presence of the power of God.

The ministry started with 18 chartered members namely, Pastor Draper, Marion Draper, Jennifer, Jeremy, and Jessica, Anthony and Sa’Brina Wheeler, Tony & Dorothy Williams and children Tanisha, Donte, Shaniya and Shanarion, Judy Williams and children Doug and Angie, Michael and Claretha Jennings and daughter Lamisha. Within four years, the Right Way congregation grew and a larger place of worship was needed.  The Lord spoke to Pastor Draper through the scripture, Isaiah 54:1-4, “Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes.  For thou shall break forth on the right and on the left…”.  The Right Way family grasped hold of the Pastor’s vision and agreed that it was indeed time to acquire a larger space and began to depend totally on God who led us to our present location, 5307 Mastin Lake Road.

Right Way have several active auxiliaries that are serving to aid in the up building of the work of the Lord.  Right Way is not just another Church but it is a Ministry which has been blessed in such times as these with God fearing people to be servants of God, willing to nurture God’s people.  As indicated in the theme scripture that was given to Pastor Draper many years ago, “then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.  And He led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.”

The Pastor’s vision has become the entire Right Way Family’s vision.  This ministry is a place of refuge providing a place of restoration and service to the community.  A place where people who are hurting and hungry can be restored with hope, truth and guidance.
